WhyY – Documentaion

Everyone should document something about themselves whether that is a project that they are doing or a part of their life that is important. Keeping notes whether that is in paper, video or audio form is a really nice thing to have in the future to look back on and see where you were in the beginning stages of something. It is why at WhyY we are trying to document as much as we can in the process of putting together our projects and building our team and business as a whole. Will it look good on a CV if we have to focus on a ‘normal’ career path? Possibly. Will it look good if we are showing future friends and family members? Most definitely it will. The performers now who are up on stage that have thousands of people watching and admiring them have hours of footage to go through in the future when they are older to see how much of a boss he/she looked.

Legacy is the main point of documentation. To teach people how we got to a certain point within our project and to give other people confidence that you can start from nothing and work your way through a process that’ll reach an end goal at some point. I talk about legacy because it is really the only thing that lasts when you reach a point where you can no longer create things. These things that are left behind can be books, videos, music. All sorts of little elements that people leave behind to show others what their life was like. This has become a lot easier now thanks to the internet and the ability to video anything so easily.

Documentation from a business standpoint and creating content from the start to end of a business is such as valuable piece of data to have to go back and analyse what went well and what didn’t go so well. It is great that the new age businesses are so invested in video, audio and writing creation that it is become natural for the documentation process to just happen. These companies need to produce content that Is everlasting on their platform which allows them to double up profitability by releasing this content to the public and having it remain on the platform for as long as they see fit, when in the case of a blog post or website content is usually staying there for a long time. The documentation of a project is a smart thing to do because it opens up a new area of content creation that the prior business may not have thought about before. For example, you can have a Gary Vee situation where you are just going about the normal business day but there is someone around always recording day to day. This process is becoming popular and having a videographer on the team is always going to result in interesting content because the day of being a CEO is probably quite interesting. Thus having this interesting content is going to keep the viewer watching but also the general process of recording everything and editing it to only put out what you want is important for self-reflection and can bring more attention to the project.
